About Awagarh Fort

The fort of Awagarh, a private property of the Awagarh royal family is built at an elevation; on a hill top, so as to provide a vantage point. The fort complexes hold many attractions including the royal courtyards and palaces. The monuments tell saga of a glorious past as well as offer you a glimpse of the rich culture and traditions of the state. Awagarh is best explored as a leisurely pace, with natural beauty, colours and contrasts. Here stands this 108 acre pristine fort of a long forgotten kingdom of jadon rulers of the Kashtriya clan, who after migration from Karauli had build this magnificent fortress in 1206 (according to Vikramaditya’s calendar) on a tiny mound, claming the biggest moat encircling around it, surrounded by lush green fields.
