Darbhanga, Bihar: The royal family of Darbhanga mourns the passing of Maharani of Darbhanga, the revered matriarch of the family and grandmother of Kunwar Kapileshwar Singh of Darbhanga. Her demise marks the end of an era for one of India’s most historically significant royal lineages.

Widely respected for her grace, dignity, and lifelong commitment to family traditions, the Maharani was a pillar of strength within the Darbhanga Raj household. She was deeply rooted in the cultural and spiritual values of Mithila, upholding customs that have been passed down through generations of the Khandwala Rajputs of Darbhanga.

Throughout her life, the Maharani played a quiet yet influential role in preserving the heritage of the Darbhanga estate. Known for her poise and humility, she remained devoted to family life, religious observances, and charitable causes, embodying the traditional ideals of a royal matriarch. Her presence was especially cherished during family ceremonies and festivals, where she was a guiding figure for younger generations.

As the grandmother of Kunwar Kapileshwar Singh Darbhanga, she was instrumental in nurturing the values of responsibility, cultural pride, and service that continue to define the family today. Those close to her remember her as compassionate, disciplined, and deeply devoted to the well-being of her family and community.

Members of the extended royal family, well-wishers, and admirers from across Bihar and beyond have expressed their condolences, remembering her as a symbol of continuity and quiet strength within the storied Darbhanga lineage.

The Darbhanga Raj, once among the most prominent zamindari estates of India, has long been associated with patronage of education, art, and culture. The Maharani’s life reflected these enduring traditions, and her passing is felt not only by her family but also by those who hold the history of Darbhanga close to their hearts.

She is survived by her family, who continue to honor her memory and legacy.

May her soul rest in peace.
