Actor – Rahul Singh

From the noble battlefields of Mewar to the silver screens of Indian cinema, Rahul Singh embodies a lineage where valor, literature and performance are deeply intertwined. A modern-day renaissance man, Rahul represents not just the legacy of Rajasthan’s warrior-scholars, but also the enduring spirit of India’s royal ethos.

🏰 A Legacy Etched in Valor & Verse.
Born on October 18 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Rahul descends from the sacred Chaaran clan of Saint Goddess Hinglaj Mata — the legendary community known for wielding the sword in one hand and the pen in the other. The Hinglaj temple in present-day Pakistan, a sacred site worshipped across faiths, marks the spiritual origin of this ancient lineage.

The Shakti avatars of the illustrious Chaaran clan – Karni Ma, Tanot Rai, Avad Ma, Sunder Ma & 24 other incarnations are revered protectors of Rajputana & beyond.

Over hundreds of centuries, these clans served as the fighting lance & guiding light of kingdoms, chronicling history in verse and defending it with their lives.

Rahul’s forefathers, the Kesariya family, migrated to Mewar in 1110, settling in Mahiari, from which their surname Mahiarya is derived. Among these ancestors was the legendary Thakur Haridas Mahiarya, who famously declined the throne of Me at the peak of its power. A general under Maharana Sanga, he was gifted the throne after defeating Mehmood Khilji II in the Battle of Gagron—but he humbly reinstated his sovereign.

This moment of rare, exalted ‘swamibhakti’ is recorded in the Vir Vinod – the official history of Mewar.

🎓 Cultivating a Creative Mind,
Rahul’s creative upbringing was shaped by his exceptional family:

His mother, Dr. Prabha Thakur, is a celebrated Hindi poet, a four-time MP, and former President of the All India Women’s Congress.

His father, Thakur Rajendra Singh Mahiarya, is a pioneer in Rajasthan’s hospitality industry, with iconic establishments in the city of lakes – the Shilpi Resort at Fateh sagar & Hotel Sarovar on Pichola.

After schooling at Mayo College Ajmer, Rahul graduated from St. Xavier’s College Mumbai & later trained in drama & film at RADA, actors institute & British film Institute, UK. College years saw him scripting & enacting over 50 street plays on social issues, laying the groundwork for a powerful artistic career.

🎬 Cinematic Journey: Power, Poetry & Presence.
Thrice national award nominee Rahul made his debut in Zubeidaa (2001), portraying Prince Uday Singh with poise and depth. He soon became known for his versatility, playing characters that ranged from brooding antagonists to nuanced protagonists, finding a new method in a new madness each time. Eg – for the Ghazi attack, he spent time underwater with the Indian Navy!

Career highlights:

“ *Bro, just copy and paste the list of films along with directors or producers names… as Actor as well as writer… Just like it is on IMDb… No point, mentioning the film and the year and the character description. It will take up too much space and spoil the crispness of your beautiful writing. *“

🌿 Beyond the Screen: Art, Activism, adventure sports & Conservation.
Rahul’s passion flows into multiple disciplines:

Does motorbiking, paragliding, scuba diving, Advocates wildlife conservation & ecological restoration in Rajasthan’s sanctuaries.

Currently, he’s also involved in building a boutique hotel in Himachal’s Kangra Valley, merging hospitality with heritage.
